2039 Comprehensive Plan

The Village of Chatham has partnered with the Springfield-Sangamon County Regional Planning Commission to develop a 2039 Comprehensive Plan. A comprehensive plan outlines the vision of a community and serves as a guide to be used in future actions to meet long-range goals and objectives.

A comprehensive plan will answer the following questions:

  • Where is the community now?
  • How did the community get there?
  • Where does the community want to go?

We invite you to review the information listed below and participate in the planning process.

Mapping Application

The U-Plan-It-Chatham Mapping Application gives you the opportunity to provide suggestions on what you would like to see develop in Chatham and the surrounding areas.

Community Survey

The Springfield-Sangamon County Regional Planning Commission is working with University of Illinois- Springfield’s Survey Research Office to administer a community survey to obtain your opinions and ideas related to the future land use in Chatham.

During the week of November 19th, each household in Chatham will receive one (1) survey for completion by someone who is at least 18 years old. If the person agreeing to take the survey would prefer to do so online, they may follow this link http://go.uis.edu/chathamsurvey and insert the project identification number contained in the cover letter mailed with the survey.

If more than one person in the household would like to complete the survey, they may do so at: http://go.uis.edu/chathamsurvey and follow the instructions online. Additional paper copies will be available at the Village Hall if residents would prefer to compete a survey in that manner.

We hope that you will take a few minutes to complete a survey to help shape the future of Chatham.
